Passionate about art and culture, Ms Pansy Ho is a great believer that they can help forge links and bring unity between cities and nations, and build empathy and understanding among people. To Ms Ho, art is not a luxury, but a medium through which we perceive ourselves and our place in the world through history.

Ms Ho’s appreciation of art and culture encompasses the performing arts - be it music, dance, drama, film and television, theatre and entertainment arts or Chinese opera - all of them being forms of artistic expression and manifestations of who we are, where we have been, and where we are heading.

Ms Ho has made it one of her missions to promote and expand Hong Kong’s creative landscape, committed to enhancing Hong Kong’s identity beyond its current status as a financial and commercial centre, and to accentuating Hong Kong as a place that is artistically rich and culturally diverse. She believes the best means to meet this objective is to educate and train the next generations of performing arts practitioners.

To this end, Ms Ho has been dedicating time and effort since 1999 to support organisations that share her passion for the arts. In addition to serving as joint Vice-President of the Society of the Academy for Performing Arts since 1999, Ms Ho was a member of the Board of Governors of the Hong Kong Ballet from 2001 to 2007 and a member of the Board of Governors of the Hong Kong Arts Centre from 2001 to 2009. She was also a member of the General Committee of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Society Limited from 2004 to 2006 and a member of the Committee on Museums, under the aegis of the Home Affairs Bureau, from 2004 to 2006. In 2013, Ms Ho was appointed Chinese Ambassador of the Louvre Museum, in which role she helps organise promotional and conservation programmes in China for the world-famous museum.

In addition to the work she undertakes in official capacity for various artistic organisations, Ms Ho has been relentless in raising funds for The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, the Hong Kong Arts Centre and the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, as well as for the Hong Kong Ballet in her capacity as Chairlady for Fund-Raising Galas and Campaigns.

Ms Ho is the Managing Director of Shun Tak Holdings Limited, a conglomerate listed in Hong Kong with core businesses in property, transportation, hospitality and investments. She is Co-Chairperson and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, and holds top positions in other travel and hospitality related businesses, including Sociedade de Turismo e Diversoes de Macau, S.A. (STDM), Macau Tower Convention and Entertainment Centre, Air Macau Co. Ltd. and Macau International Airport Co. Ltd.

Ms Ho holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and International Business Management from the University of Santa Clara in the USA. She received an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Business Administration from the Johnson and Wales University in the USA in 2007, and was appointed Honorary Professor of School of Political Communication by the Central China Normal University in 2013.
