The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the Master Carpenter, assisting in producing high-quality scenery for various theatrical productions and events of the Academy. This role offers an excellent opportunity to demonstrate and develop skills in scenic construction, as well as supporting student learning. The postholder is required to work 44 hours per week and may be required to work in the evenings of weekday, on weekends and public holidays.

 

Required Qualifications: 
(a) A relevant degree/diploma and/or professional training/experience in theatre production or a related field.
(b) Extensive experience in carpentry or scenic construction, preferably in theatre or live event production.

(c) High level of proficiency in using woodwork and metalwork tools and equipment, along with knowledge of safety protocols.

(d) Good communication skills for effective collaboration with production teams and students.
(e) Ability to troubleshoot issues related to scenic construction and adapt plans as needed.

 

Additional Desirable Criteria:
(f) Familiarity with computer-aided design software, particularly AutoCAD and CNC.
(g) Experience working in an educational setting.
(h) Proficiency in spoken and written English and Chinese.


TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
Appointment will be on a two-year renewable contract, subject to performance and mutual agreement.  A gratuity payment equals up to 10% of the total basic salary earned during the contract period, may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the full contract. The amount of gratuity payable will be the sum which, when added to the Academy’s contribution to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, that equals 10% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. Fringe benefits include leave, medical, and dental benefits. The starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
