The School of Drama offers major studies in Acting for Drama, Musical Theatre, Applied Theatre, Directing, Dramaturgy and Playwriting through BFA and MFA programmes and a Foundations Diploma. In keeping with its conservatoire status, the School’s philosophy is centered on performance practice, and reflects the unique cultural mix of Hong Kong, with emphasis on both Chinese and Western traditions.

 

The postholder will be responsible for teaching courses in acting at all levels and directing Drama productions presented by the School of Drama.  The postholder will also manage the programmes of events in the School of Drama, collaborating with other Schools to promote Drama productions and artistic activities of the Academy. In addition, the postholder will assist with curriculum planning and course development for the School’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

 

Applicants should have:
(a) A relevant postgraduate degree and/or professional training/experience to an equivalent level;
(b) Normally, a minimum of six years’ experience of teaching at tertiary level;
(c) Broad experience in curricular design, writing and implementation according to established quality assurance frameworks;
(d) Proven ability to contribute to the development of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the School of Drama;
(e) A good understanding and knowledge of the contemporary international development of the postholder’s area of specialism;
(f) Professional experience in an interdisciplinary and intercultural context; and
(g) A good command of spoken and written in both English and Chinese.

 

Those with lower qualification or less experience may be considered for appointment at Lecturer grade.

 

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT 
Appointment will be on a two-year renewable contract, subject to performance and mutual agreement.  A gratuity payment equals up to 15% of the total basic salary earned during the contract period may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period.  The amount of gratuity payable will be the sum which, when added to the Academy’s contribution to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, equals 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical, and dental benefits. The starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. A non-accountable Cash Allowance will be provided to the eligible appointee at Senior Lecturer grade.
