The Technician (Film/TV) will provide technical support for day-to-day teaching and learning activities, production projects, manage online booking systems, equipment store, and ad-hoc events within the School of Film and Television. Specifically, he/she has to operate and maintain digital television studio equipment including Virtual Production (VP/XR), vision switcher, pedestal cameras, sound and lighting equipment, and IT networked media storage. The post holder is expected to work at the Academy campuses located in Wanchai and Pokfulam and should be prepared to work occasionally at other locations. The postholder may be required to work in the evenings on weekdays, on weekends and public holidays.
Applicants should have:
(a) Relevant qualification in IT / electrical / electronic maintenance and repair;
(b) Normally at least 2 years’ full-time employment experience in a Television studio or contemporary screen production or post-production environment;
(c) Experience in software development and Digital Screen Design equipment (VP/XR) related setup;
(d) Good communication and problem-solving skills;
(e) Good written and spoken English and Chinese;
(f) Knowledge and experience in operating and maintaining digital post-production workstations; and
(g) Knowledge and experience in operating Virtual Production / Extend Reality and motion capture systems and related software is desirable.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
Appointment will be on a two-year renewable contract, subject to performance and mutual agreement. A gratuity payment equals up to 10% of the total basic salary earned during the contract period, may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the full contract. The amount of gratuity payable will be the sum which, when added to the Academy’s contribution to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, that equals 10% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. Fringe benefits include leave, medical, and dental benefits. The starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
