The School of Drama offers major studies in Acting for Drama, Musical Theatre, Applied Theatre, Directing, Dramaturgy and Playwriting through BFA and MFA programmes and a Foundation Diploma. In keeping with its conservatoire status, the School’s philosophy is centered on performance practice, and reflects the unique cultural mix of Hong Kong, with emphasis on both Chinese and Western traditions.

 

Reporting to the Dean of the School of Drama, the postholder will provide artistic and academic leadership for the BFA and MFA Acting programmes within the School of Drama. The postholder is responsible for teaching courses at all levels, overseeing curriculum development, programme validation, students mentoring and assessment, committee work, and Academy/School’s performance as well as collaboration projects.

 

Applicants should have:
(a) A relevant postgraduate degree and/or professional training/experience to an equivalent level; 
(b) Normally with eight years’ experience in teaching in acting / musical theatre, preferably teaching at Undergraduate and Master’s level;
(c) Proven professional experience in the postholder’s area of specialisation;
(d) Substantial academic leadership and administrative/management experience;
(e) Experience in curriculum design, writing and implementation according to established quality assurance frameworks;
(f) Ability to contribute to ongoing development of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and research in the School of Drama;
(g) A thorough understanding of the contemporary international development and trends in the field;
(h) Professional experience in an interdisciplinary and intercultural context; 
(i) Ability to effectively leverage and integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and learning technologies into teaching, assessment, research, and artistic productions; and
(j) A good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua and Cantonese).

 

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT 
Appointment will be on a two-year renewable contract, subject to performance and mutual agreement.  A gratuity payment may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the full contract. Fringe benefits include leave, medical, and dental benefits. The starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. A non-accountable Cash Allowance may be provided to the eligible appointee.  The expected commencement date will be 24 August 2026.
