The Academy Announces Closure of the Wanchai and Béthanie Campuses Until Further Notice

15 Feb 2020

The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts has re-assessed the situation regarding the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak. In view of the risk of the spread of the Covid-19 through social contact, and with the continued concerns for the health and safety of staff, students and the general Academy community, a decision has been taken to continue to close both campuses beyond 1 March 2020 and until further notice. Emergency and essential services will continue to be provided on both campuses.

Semester 2 will commence on 2 March 2020 as scheduled to fully cover 16 weeks of learning up until 27 June 2020. The contingency plan is for courses to be delivered via online teaching and learning modes as far as feasible from now until the resumption of face-to-face teaching especially for class based lectures; importantly, and hopefully practice-based activities will commence after 15 April. Students will therefore be expected to keep the summer free as an intensive practice-based study period, and also in the unfortunate circumstance that there is a further delay in our return to campus. The Academy will closely monitor the evolving situation and will make necessary announcement(s) as and when necessary. Staff and students are advised to stay vigilant regarding their health and seek medical assistance immediately if feeling unwell.
